This ia an image of the Third Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Company C. This unit was raised in Georgia's Newnan, Coweta, Meriwether, Carroll, Ferrell and Paulding Counties, and was commanded by Capt. J. E. Powell.

In the fifth row at center (with hand raised) is Earnest Jones Shannon,of  Newnan, Georgia. Shannon's brother-in-law of Charles W. Atchison who served in Company H.

Apparently the entire regiment was photographed, company by company, in this location. See the photo of Company D for a comparison.
