Maps! We presently have the following maps for sale:

Item 4029 - Historical Map of the West Indies – Two-sided wall map with twelve (12) separate maps and explanatory text related to the history of the West indies (including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Haiti, Domincan Republic, as well as the Windward and Leeward Islands). One side features a large scale map showing the islands and their relationship to each other, South America, Central America and Florida at a scale of 1” = 69 miles. The map includes facts and dates related to many of the islands. The other side has eleven (11) maps with explanatory text as follows – (1) “The Spanish Caribbean 1492-1625;" (2-6) "Imperial Rivalries, 1625-1763, (with separate maps of Jamaica, Barbados, Hispaniola, and the Leeward/Windward Islands; (7)"European Sea, 1763-1898;" (8-10)"American Sea, 1898-1945;" "Forces of Change 1945-Present, (with separate maps of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).   The map was created and copyrighted in 1987 by the National Geographic Society. The map measures 20 1/4” x 27 1/4"overall  (folds to 5" x 7"), and is in excellent condition.

Item 4031 - Map of Spain and Portugal – This two-sided wall map, entitled “A Traveler’ Map of Spain and Portugal” was produced by the National Geographic Society in 1984. The front side of the map of Spain and Portugal drawn at a scale of 1” = 29.2 miles. The maps shows locations of castles, palaces, bullfighting rings, religious buildings, etc. Notes on the map provide historical information and sightseeing data. Also included are enlarged maps showing travel and historical site information for Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon. A map of the Alhambra is included as is a map entitled “Strabo’s Iberia.” The back of the map includes texts providing travelers information and cultural information in Spain and Portugal. In addition, there are nine maps – 1)A map of the provinces of Spain, 2) a map providing suggested tour routes, 3) a map of New Castille, 4) a map of the provinces of Portugal, 5) a map of Andalusia, 6) a small map of the Madeira Islands, 7) a small map of the Azores, 8) a small map of the Canary Islands, and a map of the Spanish and Portuguese wine making areas. The map measures 36“x 22 1/2“ overall (5 3/4“ x 9“ folded). The map is in excellent condition. Some slight wear at folds

Item 4032 - Map of Spain and Portugal – This one-sided wall map, entitled “Spain and Portugal” was produced by the National Geographic Society in 1965. The  map is drawn at a scale of 1” = 34 miles. The maps shows ciies and towns, major roadways, railroads, oil pipelines, canals, locations of ruins, the depth of the surrounding portions of the Atlantic and Mediterranean in fathoms, etc.  There is an enlarged map (1"=15 miles) of the area around Madrid, and an enlarged map (1"=10 miles) of the area around Lisbon. The map measures 19"x 25“ overall (6 1/4“ x 9 1/2“ folded). The map is in good condition. Some slight wear at folds, with the most exposed corner, when folded, having a small hole (occurring between Mallorca and Ibiza islands). Also, some discoloration near title where some pencil marks were removed.

Item 6001 - Arctic Explorations Map - This colored map, copied on high quality paper, indicates the routes of famous expeditions to the Arctic Regions. Included are the routes of McClure (1850-1853), German Expeditions of 1869-1870, Nordenskiold (1878-1879), Delong (1881), Nansen (1893-1896), Sverdrup (1898-1902) Abruzzi (1899-1900), and Peary (1906 and 1909). The map is reproduced in 8 1/2" x 11" format.

Item 6002 - The Yukon - This large map indicates the locations of roads and waterways in the Yukon.  Entitled "Canadian Routes to White River District, Yukon, and to Chisana District, Alaska," the map shows wagon roads, government trails, navigable river routes, Winter routes, rough trails, Winter roads, and road houses. The scale of the map is 16 miles to the inch. The map was originally produced by the Canadian Department of Mines.  The map is reproduced in approximately 18" x 19" format.

Item 6009 - The Arctic Ocean  - Two sided wall produced by the National Geographic Society. The first side shows a map of the Arctic Ocean at a scale of 1”= 160 miles. The map includes water depths and labeling of undersea topography, including places such as the makarov Basin, Pole Plain, Fram Basin, Mendeleyev Plain, Chukchi Plateau, Anjou Islands, Spitsbergen, Alaska’s North Slope, Siberia, the Queen Elizabeth Islands, etc. Beside the map is an article entitled “Exploring and Mapping the Seafloor. The other side of the map shows a similar map of the Atlantic Ocean, showing the underwater topography from Iceland and Greenland to Falklands. This map is at a scale of 1” = 503 miles. Also included adjacent to this map is an article entitled “Diving Into Our Past” and a small chart indicating the depth that various submersibles were capable of going. The map was produced in 1989. 20 ¼” x 31 ½” overall (5” x 6 ¼” folded). Excellent condition..

Item 6011 - British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon, Canada  - Two-sided wall map of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory produced by the National Geographic Society in 1978. The one side of the map is a map of the three provinces produced at a scale of 1” = 55.2 miles. This map includes many notes indicating points of interest in cities, towns and elsewhere as well as Indian reservations, wildlife reserves, national parks, etc. The northern tip of the Yukon is not included. The second side of the map has three maps – 1) the entire province of Yukon, 2) Victoria and Vancouver, and 3) the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks. There is a written description of each province with travel information. The map has some slight tears at the edges at folds. The map measures 27“x 22 1/2 “ overall (5 1/2“ x 7“ folded).

Item 7002 - Historical Map of the Holy Land - Two sided wall map covering present day Israel and portions of Lebanon, Syria and Jordan (including the Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip). The first side features a map of the areas above including the historical areas of Palestine, Ammon, Galilee, Decapolis, Moab, etc., at a scale of 1” =6.4 miles. The map has historical notes about specific events and event. The map also includes a legend which indicates the time period of major historical and archaeological sites (the legend includes Stone and Bronze Age 500,000 BC to 1,200 BC; Israelite and Persian Period 1,200 BC to 332 BC; Hellenistic and Roman periods 332 BC to 324 AD; Byzantine Period 324 AD to 640 AD and the Islamic Period 640 AD to 1917 AD). The second side includes 12 maps: 1) The travels of Abraham, Paul and Muhammed; 2) The travels of Moses and Jesus; 3) a pictorial panoramic view of Jerusalem with various important sites and buildings located; 4) Jerusalem at a scale of approximately 1” = ¼”(including the Old City with the Christian, Armenian, Jewish and Islamic Quarters indicated, as well as important historical sites); 5) the area surrounding Jerusalem with historical sites located using the same legend as on side one at a scale of about 1” = 3.5 miles. The remaining maps are small maps giving the general geographic areas of the following: 6) Egyptian/Israelite period, 7) Persian/Babylonian period, 8) Greek period, 9) Roman/Byzantine period, 10) Islamic growth/Crusades, 11) Ottoman/Mamluks, 12) and the 1920-1967 period. The map was produced by National Geographic in 1989. The map is in excellent condition. The map measures  20 1/4“ x 31“ overall (5 1/4“ x 7 3/4“ folded).

Item 7003 - Map of Central America - Two-sided wall map produced by the National Geographic Society in 1986. One side of the map has seven maps. The largest is a map covering from the Yucatan Peninsula/Isthmus of Tehuantepec to the southern end of Panama. The map locates sites occupied between 1500 AD to prior to 250 BC. The map has an associated historical text. The other maps on this side are “Pre-Columbian Glory – Before 1500;” “Conquests and Colonies, 1500-1821;” “Time of Independence – 1821-1900;” “Prelude to Change, 1900-1945;” and “Upheaval and Uncertainty, 1945-present.” The other side of the map has four maps. The main map is a large scale (1”= 40 miles) covering from Guatemala to Panama. Three smaller maps show land use, ethnic distribution and population density. Text provides basic information on the countries included: Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. The map measures 21 1/4” x 31 ½” overall (8” x 5 ¼” folded). Item 11001 - 1884 Map of the Arizona Territory - This map, entitled "Map of the Territory of Arizona, 1884" is drawn at a scale of 23 miles to the inch. The extremely detailed map includes locations of Indian reservations, military reservations, confirmed grants, unconfirmed grants, county seats, completed railroads, railroad grant limits, cities, towns, and a depiction of the topography. The map measures approximately 16"x19".

Item 11002 - Historical Map of Texas - Two sided wall map of Texas. The first side includes Texas and portions of the surrounding states at a scale of 1”= 43 miles. The map includes historical notes concerning various events and locations such as the founding of specific towns and cities. The second side has 6 maps with associated historical texts. The maps include 1) “Weak Spanish Frontier 1519-1821;” 2) “Era of Independence, 1821 – 1845;” 3) “Vigorous Expansion 1845-1900;” 4) “Broadening Base, 1900-1950;” 5) “New Frontiers, 1950-Present;” and 6) “Mexican Borderland.” The map was produced by National Geographic in 1986. The map is in excellent condition. The map measures 27 1/4“ x 20 1/4“ overall (5 “ x 6 3/4“ folded).

Item 11004 - Map of the American Southwest – Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah - This map was produced by the National Geographic Society in 1977. The front of the publication is a map of the four states drawn at a scale of 1” = 33.5 miles. The map has many notes for places that a tourist may like to visit, providing city and town highlights, etc. The map also includes data such as locations of ghost towns, state and national parks, Indian reservations, ski areas, railroads and major highways. The back of the map provides text that gives a basic description of each state amid artistic images of the southwest. The map measures 35” x 22 ½” overall (8 ¾” x 5 ½” folded). The map is in excellent condition.

Item 14001 - German Empire, Southern Portion - This is a map showing pre-World War One Germany showing the Wurtenberg, Bavaria, Baden, Hesse Darmstadt, and Palatinate Bavaria as well as the surrounding areas. The mentioned areas are shown in tinted color. The map title reads “Empire of Germany (Southern Portion). The scale is just under 1” = 40 miles, and is given in a visual scale. The map includes railways. Overall 10” x 13 3/4” . The map itself is about 9”x11”. The map was printed on heavy stock paper. The map was folded in the center, and there is a 2” tear along the crease at the bottom of the map that has no effect on the tinted area.

Item 14002 - Map of Northeast U.S., Atlantic Maritimes - This is a two-sided wall map produced by the National Geographic Society in 1985 entitled “Northern Approaches – Maine and the Maritimes.” The front shows a map of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and parts of New York, Massachusetts, and Quebec at a scale of 1”=27.4 miles. The map includes cities, towns, historic sites, Indian Reservations, as well as notes indicating and explaining various historic events and the significance of specific locations. The back includes five maps all with accompanying historical text. They are “European Outreach ca 1000-1630,” “Northeast Contested 1630-1763,” “Shifting Population 1763-1850,” A Changing Economy 1850-1950,” and “The Cultural Imprint 1950-Present.” Three of the maps are at a scale of 1”=100 miles, one is at a scale of 1”=200 miles, and one does not have an indicated scale. There are pictorial illustrations in typical National Geographic style.The map is in excellent condition. Overall size is 22 ½ x 27” (5”x7” folded)
