Philippine Campaign Medal 1896-1898
Contributed by Martin Wagner
This is the Philippine Campaign Medal. This medal was given to Spanish
troops (regulars) who participated in the Philippine campaigns of 1896-98.
The image is that of the king of Spain, Alfonse XIII. The inscription reads
"Alfonso XIII Al Ejercito de Filipinas" or Alfonse XIII, Campaigns in the
Philippines." The bars on this medal indicate that the soldier who received
this medal participated in actions on Luzón, Mindanao and Jolo.
