The full explanation:
Here is the explanation for why
this happened. Yahoo sold its website hosting service to a company
called Turbify. Turbify required that the website be migrated to a new
server. We had no choice, so we did it. Turbify grossly messed up the
data migration and failed to map the backlinks! This meant that the
backlinks now failed and led to a 404 error page! After fighting with
Turbity for months as they claimed everything was OK...in spite of the
website getting an error message about once every two minutes and Google
sending us notes of complaint. Turbify never provided an explanation, or
even admitted there was a problem in spite of all of the data forwarded
to their customer service people. Eventually I gave up and switched to
Bluehost. During the Bluehost migration process I was informed that
Turbify had failed to properly map the backlinks in their migration and
sadly nothing could be done to correct that problem.
Our only option was to come up with code that would redirect someone
following one of the broken backlinks to this page so they would not go
to a 404 error page. Hopefully people will be able to get to the page
they need through this page.
Thanks, Turbify for forcing us to migrate, and then messing up the migration!
