Below is a typical artillery hat insignia. It has two crossed cannons.
Below the cannon is a number. This is the number of the artillery regiment.
Often, unlike in the example below, a letter will appear above the crossed
cannon. The letter would be the letter of the specific battery within the
regiment. The insignia below is that of the 14th artillery.
